NEWS: tribal art fair New York 2012 preview

African Arts Magazine

African Arts Magazine (print edition) 4 times a year in-depth articles on African arts and stunning images of objects coming from old collections and museums.

  • African Arts Magazine - - 4 issues / 12 months
    Buy new: $80.00 ($20.00/issue)
Usually ships in 12 to 16 weeks

African Arts Magazine is devoted to the study and discussion of traditional, contemporary, and popular African arts and expressive cultures. Since 1967, African Arts readers have enjoyed high-quality visual depictions, cutting-edge explorations of theory and practice, and critical dialogue.

Each issue features a core of peer-reviewed scholarly articles concerning the world's second largest continent and its diasporas, and provides a host of resources--book and museum exhibition reviews, exhibition previews, features on collections, artist portfolios, and dialogue and editorial columns.

The journal promotes investigation of the connections between the arts and anthropology, history, language, literature, politics, religion, and sociology.

African Arts is published quarterly by the James S. Coleman African Studies Center, University of California, Los Angeles. African Arts official site is distributed by MIT Press Journals and should not be confused with www.tribalartmagazine.com/.

African Arts is an academic journal. We do not provide tribal art appraisals or other commercial services. The appearance of an advertisement in the journal does not imply its endorsement by the editorial board.
